How to Talk so Your Kids will Listen...

A facilitated peer-parent education series based on the book by Faber & Mazlish

HowToTalk

What kind of training do we have to do parenting? Whereas for most every other occupation we expect there to be some training, not so for parenting; we expect love to be enough, but often it is not. Parents need skills and training too. With greater skills and training, parents can be more helpful to their children and to themselves.
GOAL - The goal of the How to Talk So Your Kids Will Listen™ workshop is to give you practical, effective methods of communication that will make your relationship with children of all ages less stressful and more rewarding.
TOPICS COVERED -- Each session, conducted in English, introduces you to a set of skills to help

  • cope with your child's unpleasant feelings
  • engage your child's willing cooperation
  • discipline without hurting or alienating
  • help your child develop a positive and realistic self-image
  • foster a family atmosphere of love and respect, and
  • resolve conflicts peacefully.

From session to session, reading and written homework will be assigned; recommended reading can be done ahead of time as well.

FACILITATOR - Audrey Ellis: MEd, Life Skills facilitator, parent of 3
